To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Data Container" file type, you need software like ArchiFrame or a similar tool.
About BTL files
The .BTL file extension is a highly fragmented format that represents several completely unrelated types of data. Most commonly, it functions as a Bau-Teil-Liste standard file for timber construction machinery, an oceanographic bottle data file from Sea-Bird Scientific, or a proprietary battle map asset for video games like Dragon Ball Z or Cossacks.
Depending on the specific origin of the file, you need highly specialized software to access the contents. Timber manufacturing files are processed by heavy CAD/CAM programs like ArchiFrame or Nemetschek Allplan. Oceanographic sensor metrics require the Seasave software suite, while legacy database language drivers rely on the obsolete Borland Database Engine.
The main disadvantage of .BTL files is this extreme fragmentation. Because the extension is freely reused by dozens of developers across entirely different industries, your operating system cannot automatically assign a default application. This makes the file a frustrating black box. Furthermore, most of these variants are closed, proprietary binaries that completely lack modern web browser support, effectively trapping your data inside expensive or discontinued software ecosystems.
If you need to extract the information, your best target formats are CSV, XML, or plain TXT. Converting to these universally accepted formats ensures you can read the raw telemetry, construction logs, or database strings without relying on the original specialized software.
Because of this fragmentation, standard online converters fail to process .BTL files. They simply do not know which variant you uploaded, and often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BTL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BTL file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use ArchiFrame or similar software from the "Timber Construction Data Exchange" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to BTL, try ArchiFrame or another comparable tool in the "Timber Construction Data Exchange" category.
The BTL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BTL converter.
