About BPB files
The .BPB file serves two distinct enterprise purposes. Most commonly, it is a DEFT payment report file generated by the NAB DEFT Payment System, containing batch payment transaction data used for automated bank reconciliation. Alternatively, it is a Business Process Model Backup file created by SAP PowerDesigner (formerly Sybase), utilizing an XML structure to store enterprise business architecture. You can open DEFT payment files using enterprise accounting software or specialized bank reconciliation tools. PowerDesigner models require SAP PowerDesigner. These proprietary enterprise formats are highly restrictive. DEFT files often lack direct compatibility with standard spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel without complex parsing, making quick financial analysis difficult. PowerDesigner backup files require expensive enterprise software licenses to view the architectural diagrams, preventing easy sharing with stakeholders. For financial data, converting .BPB to CSV or XLSX makes transaction records readable in standard spreadsheets. For business models, exporting the underlying XML or printing to PDF is best for universal sharing. These files are extremely difficult to convert because they rely on closed financial protocols or proprietary data modeling schemas.
