About BOO files
The .BOO file extension serves multiple distinct purposes depending on its origin, but it is most commonly associated with IBM BookManager as an early electronic documentation format. It is also frequently encountered as an XML-based LED display program created by Huidu Technology HDPlayer, a compressed archive used by Boo Archiver, a script written in the Boo programming language for the Unity game engine, or even a game archive for the Wintermute Engine.
Because .BOO files originate from vastly different applications, they present significant usability challenges. IBM BookManager files are functionally obsolete, requiring legacy software environments to open, and are completely incompatible with modern web browsers or mobile devices. Similarly, HDPlayer files rely on proprietary hardware settings, making them useless without the original LED control software. Users typically need to convert these files to regain access to the raw text, code, or archived data.
For legacy IBM documentation, converting .BOO to PDF or TXT is highly recommended to ensure long-term readability, though original pagination and legacy hyperlinking will likely be lost. If the file is an HDPlayer LED program, it is already structured in XML; renaming the extension to XML or opening it in a text editor will reveal the underlying configuration data. Boo language scripts are plain text and can easily be saved as TXT or CS for modern development environments. For archive variants like Boo Archiver or Microsoft Booasm, target formats like ZIP are ideal.
Most standard online converters fail to process .BOO files because of their fragmented, proprietary nature. A basic conversion tool cannot distinguish between an obsolete IBM document, a compressed archive, and a Huidu LED configuration. Our platform inspects internal file signatures to determine whether your .BOO file is a text-based script, an XML configuration, or an embedded ZIP archive, allowing you to bypass proprietary restrictions and extract the data you actually need.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BOO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BOO file to ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE, ARJ or LHA, you can use IBM BookManager or similar software from the "Documentation and Display Programming" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to BOO, try IBM BookManager or another comparable tool in the "Documentation and Display Programming" category.
The BOO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BOO converter.
