About BOO files
The .BOO extension acts as a container for several unrelated formats, most notably the IBM BookManager electronic book file. Historically used to distribute "Softcopy" documentation for IBM mainframes and OS/2 systems, these files are essentially proprietary binary containers for text and graphics. The main problem with IBM .BOO files is their obsolescence; opening them requires the legacy IBM Softcopy Reader, which is difficult to run on modern 64-bit operating systems like Windows 11 or macOS. Users typically need to convert these legacy manuals to PDF or standard Text files for archiving and easier reading.
Alternatively, a .BOO file may be a project file created by HDPlayer from Huidu Technology. These are XML-based files used to configure asynchronous full-color LED display screens. While they contain configuration data, they are proprietary and best managed within the native software. Lastly, the extension is associated with the Boo programming language, a defunct .NET language once popular with the Unity game engine. Developers encountering these scripts often need to convert them to C# or view them as plain TXT code files to migrate logic to modern frameworks.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BOO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted B00, WZD, ZIP and SIT files.
The BOO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BOO converter.
