Convert a file to BCP
To convert other file formats to the "Data Export / BIM Project" file type, you need software like Microsoft SQL Server or a similar tool.
About BCP files
A .bcp file usually represents one of two distinct formats: a Microsoft SQL Server Bulk Copy data file or a BIMcollab ZOOM project file. The SQL Server variant is a raw data dump generated by the command-line bcp utility, widely used for high-speed import/export of massive datasets (such as the UK Charity Commission's public register). These files often lack headers and use specific delimiters, making them unreadable in standard text editors or Microsoft Excel without preprocessing. Users frequently struggle with .bcp files because they appear as unstructured text or binary garbage, requiring technical command-line knowledge to restore. For data analysis, the best solution is converting these .bcp dumps to structured CSV, XLSX, or SQL formats.
Alternatively, in the architecture sector, a .bcp file acts as a project container for BIMcollab ZOOM. These files store validation rules, smart views, and clash detection settings for Building Information Models. Since this format is proprietary to the BIMcollab ecosystem, sharing project data with stakeholders who do not use ZOOM requires conversion to open standards like BCF (BIM Collaboration Format) or purely visual formats like PDF for reporting.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BCP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BCP file to CSV, JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO or RS, you can use Microsoft SQL Server or similar software from the "Database Bulk Export" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to BCP, try Microsoft SQL Server or another comparable tool in the "Database Bulk Export" category.
The BCP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BCP converter.
