Convert a file to BCI
To convert other file formats to the "System Profile Report" file type, you need software like Belarc Advisor or a similar tool.
About BCI files
The .BCI file extension is most commonly associated with Belarc Advisor, a popular system auditing tool. When the software scans a Windows PC, it compiles hardware and software configurations, license keys, and security benchmarks into a proprietary .BCI report file. While this format securely stores audit data, it is highly proprietary and locked to the host software. You cannot natively read a .BCI file in a standard text editor or web browser without parsing it through the Belarc interface. This severely restricts your ability to share PC audits with IT support teams or store them in standard documentation repositories. Secondary uses for .BCI files include Binary Coded Image firmware for Topfield satellite receivers, firmware updates for ESU model railway controllers, and image index files for older Nikon Coolpix cameras. To resolve the viewing limitations of the Belarc report, conversion is necessary. For broad sharing and web viewing, convert to HTML. For secure archiving and IT documentation, convert to PDF. For database ingestion, extract the text to TXT or XML. Note that converting binary firmware .BCI files from ESU or Topfield will generally corrupt them, as these are meant to be flashed directly to hardware rather than converted to readable text.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BCI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BCI file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Belarc Advisor or similar software from the "System Information Reporting" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to BCI, try Belarc Advisor or another comparable tool in the "System Information Reporting" category.
The BCI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BCI converter.
