The .bbc extension serves two distinct, unrelated communities. The most common use (approx. 64%) is a configuration file for BlackBullet, an automated testing and web scraping tool derived from OpenBullet. These files are essentially JSON scripts that define how the software interacts with a specific website (e.g., login steps, data parsing logic). Users often struggle to open them because the proprietary extension hides their plain-text nature; simply renaming the file to JSON or converting it to TXT reveals the readable code structure for editing in tools like VS Code.
Alternatively, a .bbc file may be a legacy disk image or data file from the BBC Micro, a home computer system released by Acorn Computers in the 1980s. In this context, the file acts as a container for programs or documents (similar to SSD or DSK). Modern operating systems cannot mount these natively. To access the contents, users must convert the file to a standard disk image format supported by emulators like BeebEm or extract the internal text data for archiving.
