About B1 files
The .B1 file extension primarily identifies a B1 Compressed Archive. Developed by the Catalina Group, this open-source format uses the LZMA algorithm to bundle and compress multiple files into a single smaller file. In rare instances, the .B1 extension also functions as a CodeBase database index file utilized by SAP and Sequiter Software.
The main disadvantage of the .B1 archive format is its lack of native operating system support. Unlike ZIP files, which open instantly on Windows and macOS, .B1 files require you to download dedicated extraction software like B1 Free Archiver. Sharing a .B1 file with colleagues or clients creates friction, as they likely lack the tools needed to open it. Furthermore, downloading third-party extractors carries the risk of accidentally installing bundled adware.
To avoid forcing others to install new software, you must convert or extract your .B1 files. For universal compatibility across all operating systems and web browsers, convert to ZIP. For maximum compression when archiving large datasets, convert to 7Z.
Convert.Guru analyzes your B1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert B1 file to A3, B2, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB or ACE, you can use B1 Free Archiver or similar software from the "Data Archiving and Compression" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to B1, try B1 Free Archiver or another comparable tool in the "Data Archiving and Compression" category.
The B1 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our B1 converter.
