About AZF files

The .AZF extension represents three distinct, incompatible file formats, creating significant confusion for users.

  1. Apacer ACE Archive (Most Common): These are compressed, password-protected archives generated by Apacer Compression Explorer (ACE), a utility pre-installed on Apacer USB flash drives (e.g., Handy Steno series). Users typically encounter these when trying to access encrypted backups on a flash drive. Because they use a proprietary compression algorithm (related to WinAce), standard tools like 7-Zip or WinRAR often cannot open them directly without the original ACE password or software.
  2. WinDelta PMS Project File: Used by WinDelta PMS, a project management system for the catering and construction industries. These files contain technical drawings, 3D layouts, and installation data. They are proprietary "internal formats" and cannot be opened by standard CAD software like AutoCAD directly.
  3. AirZip FileSECURE: A secure, DRM-protected document format used by AirZip. These are often high-fidelity compressed versions of PDF or DOCX files, locked to specific users or devices.
