About ATB files

The .ATB file extension primarily represents an AnyTime Organizer Backup or data file created by Individual Software's AnyTime Organizer. Under the hood, these files often utilize the Microsoft Compound file binary format to structure internal data. Additionally, .ATB files are used as game data attribute tables in Bandai Namco games, or as audio test system data files by Audio Precision and AlazarTech.

The primary disadvantage of the .ATB format is its highly proprietary nature. When used as a personal organizer file, it locks your personal contacts, calendars, and schedules into a specific, legacy desktop software ecosystem. You cannot easily open these files on mobile devices, modern web browsers, or standard spreadsheet applications without the original software. Users typically need to convert .ATB data to standard formats like CSV, ICS (iCalendar), or VCF (vCard) to migrate to modern cloud services like Google Calendar or Outlook. However, extracting this data directly is complex because the database structure is closed and lacks public documentation.

Because of this, the .ATB file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert with standard tools. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data safely. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, like standard Microsoft Compound streams, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ATB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted BACKUP, RTB and MEMO files.

The ATB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ATB converter.
