Extract text from ASZ files

The .asz extension is a chameleon, serving three distinct industries, though most commonly encountered as a User Interface Skin Package for applications built with AlphaControls components. These files define the look and feel (buttons, borders, textures) of Delphi or C++ Builder software. The primary frustration for users is that an .asz file is a "black box" - you cannot view the internal graphics or edit the configuration settings without the specific host application or developer tools. It acts as a proprietary container that locks away the UI assets.
In industrial and engineering contexts, an .asz file serves a critical but completely different function. It may be a project archive for KUKA robotic arms created with KUKA WorkVisual, or a CAD exchange archive for Allplan architecture software. Here, the friction is version incompatibility and data accessibility; engineers often need to extract specific logs, XML configurations, or 3D assets from these archives without installing the full, expensive software suite.
For most .asz files, the pragmatic "conversion" is actually extraction. Since many are simply renamed ZIP or GZIP archives, changing the extension to zip often allows you to inspect the contents. For AlphaControls skins, this reveals the internal BMP or PNG images and INI configuration text. For KUKA/Allplan archives, it exposes the directory structure containing project data.
