Convert ASN1 to another file type
To convert ASN1 notation files to another format, you need ASN.1 Compiler or other Encoded software.
Convert a file to ASN1
To convert other file formats to the "ASN.1 Data File" file type, you need software like ASN.1 Compiler or a similar tool.
About ASN1 files
An .ASN1 file stores structured data serialized using the Abstract Syntax Notation One standard. Typical use cases include digitally signed documents from Cincel, mobile network statistics from Ericsson, and biological sequence data from NCBI GenBank. To open or convert these files, users typically rely on an ASN.1 Compiler, NCBI BLAST, or cryptographic tools like OpenSSL. Users usually need to convert .ASN1 files because they are incredibly difficult to read in their raw state. If the file is compiled in a binary format (like BER or DER), standard text editors will only display gibberish. Furthermore, extracting the actual data requires the original schema definition. This strict schema dependency makes the format highly restrictive for everyday data analysis. For telecom network logs, converting to CSV or TXT is highly recommended to make the data readable in spreadsheet software. For certificates, PEM or CRT are standard, while biological data is best converted to FASTA. Note that converting binary data without the exact schema may result in missing or misaligned fields. Because ASN.1 encoding can be heavily customized by proprietary systems, standard online converters often fail to process it.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ASN1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ASN1 file to JSON, PEM, DER, TEXT or HEX, you can use ASN.1 Compiler or similar software from the "Standardized Data Serialization" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert files to ASN1, try ASN.1 Compiler or another comparable tool in the "Standardized Data Serialization" category.
The ASN1 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ASN1 converter.
