The .ARG file is primarily an AutoCAD User Profile settings file created by Autodesk AutoCAD. It stores a snapshot of user preferences, workspace layouts, and support file search paths. Behind the scenes, this file is effectively a backup of specific Windows Registry keys used by the application. A secondary use for the .ARG extension is as a game area data archive in Capcom titles like Resident Evil 5.
