.ARF stands for Advanced Recording File. It is a proprietary video format generated by Cisco Webex when a user downloads a cloud-hosted meeting recording. The biggest disadvantage of the .ARF format is its extreme lack of compatibility. Because it is proprietary, you cannot play it on standard media players like VLC media player or QuickTime, nor upload it directly to YouTube. Users receiving an .ARF file often face an annoying roadblock, as they must download and install the Webex player just to watch a single meeting.
To make the recording accessible, conversion is mandatory. For universal playback on web browsers, mobile devices, or editing in software like Adobe Premiere Pro, convert .ARF to MP4.
