About ANIME files

The .ANIME file format is a proprietary project file created by Smith Micro for Anime Studio (now known as Moho). These files store complex 2D vector graphics, bone rigging setups, timeline keyframes, and audio track references. They do not store actual video data.

Users usually need to convert .ANIME files because they are completely inaccessible to anyone who does not own the specific animation software. You cannot play a .ANIME file in a media player, embed it in a webpage, or upload it to YouTube. It is a closed, proprietary format that creates massive bottlenecks when animators need to share drafts with clients or team members who do not have a paid software license.

The most practical conversion targets are standard video formats like MP4, MOV, or AVI. Exporting to these formats makes the animation universally playable. However, converting to video permanently flattens the file, meaning all vector editability, layers, and bone rigging data are lost in the output file.

Standard online converters almost always fail to process .ANIME files. They lack the proprietary rendering engine required to calculate the vector coordinates and physics into playable video frames. Because it is a closed format, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. We can inspect the file's hex data, expose internal XML or text content, and if our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ANIME file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ANIM, MP4, TS, JPG, REAL and 3D files.
