About ANME files

The .anme file format is a proprietary project file created by Anime Studio (now known as Moho). It stores 2D vector animation data, including bone rigs, keyframes, timelines, and layer structures.

These files are primarily managed using Moho, originally developed by Lost Marble and formerly published by Smith Micro (see Wikipedia - Moho).

Users frequently attempt to convert .anme files because they mistake them for actual playable video files. This is a common source of frustration. An .anme file contains zero video data; it is merely a set of structural instructions and file path links. It is a locked-in, proprietary format that cannot be uploaded to social media, and it is completely unsupported by web browsers or standard media players like VLC.

To make the animation viewable, the project must be rendered to standard video formats like MP4, MOV, or AVI, or exported as a PNG image sequence. Note that converting (rendering) the file flattens the animation, which means you permanently lose access to the editable vector shapes and skeletal bone data.

Because .anme is a closed project format that frequently references external assets (like external audio tracks and background images) located on your local hard drive, standard online video converters fail to process it. You normally need the original software to render the final video.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ANME file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MOHO files.
