Convert ACCDT to another file type

To convert your ACCDT file to another format, you need Microsoft Access or other Database software.

Convert a file to ACCDT

To convert other file formats to the "Database Template" file type, you need software like Microsoft Access or a similar tool.

About ACCDT files

The .ACCDT file type represents a Microsoft Access Database Template, a pre-configured shell used to spawn new desktop databases (.ACCDB). Unlike a working database, this file functions as a blueprint, containing table schemas, form designs, macros, and report layouts but usually limited or sample data.

The primary problem with .ACCDT files is their strict dependency on Microsoft Access. Without a licensed copy of Access installed on a Windows machine, these files are effectively black boxes. Users on macOS or mobile devices cannot natively open them to view the proposed database structure or design elements. Furthermore, because they are templates, they must be "instantiated" into a full database file before they can be populated with real work, adding an extra step to the workflow.

For documentation or review purposes, converting an .ACCDT to PDF allows stakeholders to visualize the form and report designs without needing the software. If you need to inspect the internal XML structure or extract embedded images, treating the file as a ZIP archive (which it technically is) or converting it to an uncompressed folder is effective. To actually use the database, the standard conversion path is to generating a working ACCDB file.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ACCDT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ACCDE, ACCDB, QRY, MDA and LCT files.

The ACCDT Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ACCDT converter.
