About ACCDT files
An .ACCDT file is a Microsoft Access Database Template used to store pre-configured table structures, forms, reports, macros, and sometimes sample data. Organizations use these templates to quickly deploy standardized databases without building schemas from scratch. They are primarily created and opened by Microsoft Access, part of the Microsoft 365 productivity suite. The .ACCDT format presents significant disadvantages for users outside the Microsoft ecosystem. It is highly proprietary, requires a paid Microsoft 365 subscription, and is not supported natively on macOS or Linux environments. Sharing these templates with users who rely on different database systems or basic spreadsheet software is a major challenge because external applications cannot execute the embedded VBA macros or interpret the complex relational schemas. When conversion is necessary, the most logical target is a standard ACCDB database file, which can then be used to export flat tables to CSV, XLSX, or SQL formats. Direct conversion of the entire template structure into other formats usually results in the loss of forms, UI elements, and macros. This file format is notoriously difficult to convert because the relational logic is strictly tied to Microsoft's proprietary database engine. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, underneath the hood, an .ACCDT file is simply a ZIP container holding XML files. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extraction of XML schemas and assets may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ACCDT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ACCDT file to DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, ACCDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD, FRM or SQL, you can use Microsoft Access or similar software from the "Database Template Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to ACCDT, try Microsoft Access or another comparable tool in the "Database Template Storage" category.
The ACCDT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ACCDT converter.
