Convert 3DR to another file type

To convert 3DR benchmark files to another format, you need 3DMark or other 3D software.

To convert other file formats to the "3D Benchmark & Scene Data" file type, you need software like 3DMark or a similar tool.

About 3DR files

The .3DR file extension is most commonly a 3D benchmark result file generated by 3DMark, a popular hardware benchmarking tool originally developed by Futuremark. In this context, the file securely stores hardware performance metrics in a standard ZIP container. Secondary uses of the .3DR extension include DirectX 3D scene captures created by 3D Ripper DX, 3D triangulation models used in Datamine Studio or 3DReshaper, and project files from the legacy 3D Rad game engine.

These files are generally proprietary and tied to highly specific software ecosystems. The main disadvantage of .3DR files is their lack of interoperability. A 3DMark .3DR file cannot be easily viewed outside the 3DMark interface or its official online portal. A 3D Ripper DX capture contains raw DirectX geometry and textures that most standard 3D modeling programs cannot import directly without dedicated plugins. This forces users to search for difficult workarounds when they need to share benchmark data as plain text or import ripped 3D models into modern software like Blender.

When converting a 3D Ripper DX .3DR file, the ideal target formats are OBJ or 3DS for universal 3D compatibility. However, expect to lose some scene scale accuracy and specific shader configurations during this process. For 3DMark files, standard online converters frequently fail because they do not recognize the proprietary XML schema hidden inside the compressed container.

Because these formats are either closed or highly specialized, true conversion is often difficult. Usually, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects the supported underlying ZIP format of a 3DMark result, we can help unpack the internal data. If it is a supported 3D capture, viewing or conversion to common formats may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your 3DR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted 3DMARK-RESULT, OBJ, AFPK and RESOURCE files.

FAQ

If you want to convert 3DR file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use 3DMark or similar software from the "Benchmark Results & 3D Capture" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to 3DR, try 3DMark or another comparable tool in the "Benchmark Results & 3D Capture" category.

The 3DR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our 3DR converter.
