About 3DC files

The .3DC extension is a classic example of file extension overloading, meaning it is used by several unrelated software products to store proprietary data. Most commonly, you are dealing with a 3D Canvas or 3DCrafter scene file developed by Amabilis Software. These files contain 3D geometry, textures, and scene hierarchy data used for modeling and animation.

However, users frequently encounter .3DC files generated by ClosetMaid design software, iGO navigation systems (containing 3D building landmarks), or even older games like Granado Espada.

The catch with .3DC files is this lack of standardization. A file created in ClosetMaid will fail to open in Amabilis 3DCrafter, and vice versa. Furthermore, formats like the iGO map data are often compressed or encrypted to prevent tampering, effectively locking the data to the navigation device. For Amabilis users, the proprietary nature means you cannot simply import these files into Blender or Autodesk Maya without first exporting them.

For 3D Printing & Modeling: If you have an Amabilis file, use the native software to export to OBJ or STL. These are universal formats accepted by almost all slicers and modeling tools.
For Archiving Designs: If you have a ClosetMaid or kitchen design file, the data is likely vector-based but proprietary. The most reliable conversion is often a "print to PDF" workflow to preserve the visual layout, as extracting the raw 3D mesh is rarely supported.
For Game Assets: Game-specific archives often require dedicated extractors to convert character models into standard formats like FBX.
