About ZTR files
The .ztr extension is primarily associated with Keysight IC-CAP (Integrated Circuit Characterization and Analysis Program), a premier software suite used in semiconductor engineering to model device behavior (DC, RF, and analog). These files function as Measurement Data Archives, storing complex characterization results like current-voltage (IV) or capacitance-voltage (CV) curves for components like MOSFETs and BJTs.
The Problem: Opening these files typically requires a specialized, expensive license for IC-CAP or similar Keysight tools. Users often receive these files from lab partners and find themselves locked out of the raw data.
The Solution: A little-known fact is that many .ztr archives are simply ZIP containers. By renaming the extension from .ztr to zip, you can often extract the contents to reveal standard CSV, TXT, or MDM (Model) files that open easily in Microsoft Excel or any text editor.
A secondary, rarer use of the format is as a DVD Label Template created by legacy Avanquest media software. These contain layout designs and images for printing physical disc labels.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ZTR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted TRZ, SFT and GSR files.
The ZTR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZTR converter.
