About ZS2 files

A .ZS2 file is predominantly a Materials Testing Data file generated by ZwickRoell testXpert software. Engineers use it to record vital measurements from tensile strength, compression, and other physical materials tests. Alternatively, a .ZS2 file might be a Digitally Signed Document (PKCS#7) managed by Zucchetti S.p.A., a raw video recording file from the Zoom Client for Meetings, or a Slot 2 Save State from the classic Super Nintendo emulator, ZSNES. Despite its critical role in engineering and corporate environments, the ZwickRoell .ZS2 format is heavily proprietary. It internally utilizes GZIP compression to store binary-encoded data, which creates severe vendor lock-in. You cannot natively import a .ZS2 file into standard data analysis tools like Microsoft Excel or Python without purchasing an expensive software license. Similarly, raw Zoom .ZS2 files are completely unplayable until rendered, while ZSNES states are strictly tied to a single emulator version. Converting your .ZS2 files is essential if you need to analyze the data freely. For ZwickRoell files, extracting the GZIP layer and converting the underlying data to XML or CSV formats allows for instant plotting outside the testXpert ecosystem. For Zoom files, converting through the native client to MP4 is required for video playback. Because .ZS2 files are complex and bundle illegible binary data alongside internal archives, standard online converters fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, like an internal GZIP archive, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ZS2 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TRA, XTAK, BAI and DAT files.

The ZS2 Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZS2 converter.
