Convert a file to ZOP
To convert other file formats to the "Web Server Extension" file type, you need software like Zope or a similar tool.
About ZOP files
A .ZOP file is predominantly a Zope Product Package, a specialized archive used to distribute add-ons and plugins for the Zope web application server. These files function as containers for Python code, templates, and metadata that extend the functionality of Zope-based websites. The primary technical constraint users face is that while .ZOP files are internally structured as standard ZIP archives, operating systems like Windows 11 and macOS do not recognize the extension by default. This prevents users from double-clicking to open them, creating a barrier to accessing the code or assets inside. Additionally, legacy ZipIt compression software on Macintosh systems occasionally used this extension for compressed backups. For most users, the most practical "conversion" is simply re-identifying the file as a ZIP to extract its contents using tools like 7-Zip or WinRAR. For archival or server deployment, converting the contents to a .TAR.GZ (Linux standard) or PDF (for documentation text inside) is common.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ZOP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ZOP file to ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE, ARJ or LHA, you can use Zope or similar software from the "Zope Product Package" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to ZOP, try Zope or another comparable tool in the "Zope Product Package" category.
The ZOP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZOP converter.
