Convert ZNX to another file type

To convert ZNX project files to another format, you need Rohde & Schwarz or other Data software.

To convert other file formats to the "Instrument Data File" file type, you need software like Rohde & Schwarz or a similar tool.

About ZNX files

A .ZNX file typically acts as a proprietary data container. Its primary use is storing measurement data, setups, and calibration states from Rohde & Schwarz Vector Network Analyzers. In other cases, it functions as an installation or update package for the IDIS iNEX video surveillance platform.

Opening these files requires highly specialized tools. For engineering data, you must use the original Rohde & Schwarz ZNB instrument or their dedicated PC viewer software. For surveillance packages, the iNEX Package Manager is mandatory.

The .ZNX format introduces severe friction for collaboration. It is a closed, proprietary file type that causes vendor lock-in. It cannot be opened by standard data science tools like Python or Excel out of the box. If you send this file to a colleague who lacks the exact same expensive software license or instrument, they will not be able to read the measurement traces or system states.

The best conversion targets depend on the file's origin. VNA data should ideally be converted to standard CSV for spreadsheet analysis or Touchstone (.S2P / .SNP) formats for RF simulation. Package files might be converted to or extracted as ZIP if they use standard compression, though executable components will remain platform-specific.

Standard online converters fail to process .ZNX files because they lack the proprietary decoding algorithms owned by the hardware manufacturers. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if a supported underlying format is detected.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ZNX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FSP, LAF and BMPR files.

FAQ

If you want to convert ZNX file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Rohde & Schwarz or similar software from the "Instrument Data & Software Package" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to ZNX, try Rohde & Schwarz or another comparable tool in the "Instrument Data & Software Package" category.

The ZNX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZNX converter.
