About ZCC files

A .zcc file is a specialized production job container used by Zünd Cut Center (ZCC) software to control digital flatbed cutting systems. Internally, it is typically an XML-based structure that defines the job parameters - such as material type, thickness, tool assignments (e.g., oscillating knife, router), and registration marks - necessary to execute a cut.

The main problem with .zcc files is their proprietary role in the manufacturing workflow. They are designed to be read by the cutting table's console, not by humans or standard design software. While you can open them in a text editor to see raw XML data, visualizing the actual cut path or nesting layout is impossible without the expensive ZCC suite. Designers often struggle to verify if the correct tool paths were exported without walking to the production floor.

For visualization and archiving, the best approach is to convert the .zcc file to PDF, which renders the job as a viewable document. If you need to edit the geometry or import the cut lines back into CAD software like AutoCAD or Adobe Illustrator, converting to DXF is ideal. Note that while DXF preserves the vector shapes, it will strip away the Zünd-specific machine settings (feeds and speeds).

Convert.Guru analyzes your ZCC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SVG, MMG, CNC, DNC and PDF files.

The ZCC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZCC converter.
