About Z3 files

The .z3 file extension primarily denotes a 3D CAD part or assembly file created by ZW3D, a proprietary CAD/CAM software. Secondary uses include classic text adventure game data files for the Z-machine and SMT-LIB formatted input scripts for the Microsoft Z3 Theorem Prover. A key problem with .z3 CAD files is their closed, proprietary nature. You cannot open them natively in standard web browsers, document viewers, or competing CAD platforms like AutoCAD or SolidWorks without specialized importers or active ZW3D licenses. This creates friction when sharing engineering designs with clients, manufacturers, or third-party contractors who do not use ZWSOFT products. To resolve accessibility issues, you must convert .z3 files into universal industry formats. For cross-platform 3D editing and manufacturing, convert to STEP or IGES. For 3D web viewing and client presentations, convert to GLTF or OBJ.

Convert.Guru analyzes your Z3 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted O2C, VLM, MEC and Z2 files.
