About XSIADDON files
The .xsiaddon file format is a proprietary package used to distribute and install plugins, scripts, shaders, and assets for Autodesk Softimage, a discontinued 3D animation application. These add-ons were created to extend the functionality of the base software, often containing a mix of compiled binaries (DLL), scripts (VBS, JS, PY), and interface definition files.
The main disadvantage of the .xsiaddon format is that it relies on a completely dead ecosystem. Autodesk discontinued Softimage in 2014, ending all support in 2016. Because of this, modern 3D software like Maya or Blender cannot natively read or use these files. Furthermore, the format is a closed, proprietary container specifically designed for the Softimage Add-on Manager.
Standard online converters fail to process .xsiaddon files because they are highly specific software packages rather than standard media or document files. You cannot directly convert a Softimage plugin to a modern 3D application plugin. However, users often need to extract the underlying source code or 3D assets trapped inside.
This file format is difficult to open or convert without legacy installations of Softimage. Often, only the original software can properly parse the package. Even if direct conversion fails, our analysis can inspect the file's internal structure and extract readable text or embedded scripts. If our tool detects standard underlying compression, extracting the contents to a ZIP or viewing the raw text files may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XSIADDON file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
