About XPK files
The .xpk extension typically represents a Game Data Package, a container format used by various video games including WWE 2K, Tibia, and Xiah Online to consolidate assets like textures, 3D models, and audio into a single file. Unlike standard ZIP or RAR archives, these files often use proprietary compression or encryption methods (such as the XPKFRM header) to prevent casual access or modification. This is often a source of frustration for modders and gamers who simply want to extract a specific sound file or texture; standard archivers like 7-Zip will often fail to recognize the internal structure.
For most users, the goal is not to "convert" the archive itself, but to extract its contents into usable formats like PNG for images, WAV for audio, or OBJ for models. Tools like X-Packer or Dragon UnPACKer are frequently required to parse the specific game's file table.
Note on other formats: This extension is also used by eXpressPCB for printed circuit board layouts, which are unrelated to game files and can only be opened within that specific CAD ecosystem. Additionally, legacy users might encounter .xpk files from Psion Series 3 PDAs, which are compressed application packages requiring emulators or vintage utilities to access.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XPK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The XPK Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XPK converter.
