About XPK files
The .XPK file extension is primarily used as a Game Data Package Archive by several video games, including WWE 2K, Tibia, and Xiah Online. It functions as a compressed container (often an eXtended PaK archive) to store 3D models, textures, audio tracks, and other core game assets. Alternatively, the .XPK format is used by eXpressPCB to store printed circuit board (CAD) designs, or as an executable application file for the vintage Psion Series 3 PDA.
Because the extension is severely overloaded, opening an .XPK file depends entirely on its source. Game data archives are usually highly proprietary and heavily encrypted to prevent users from modifying or ripping game assets. This means standard archive tools like 7-Zip often fail to read them unless the developer simply used a standard ZIP wrapper (as seen in some Sony PlayStation Network packages). Furthermore, eXpressPCB files suffer from extreme vendor lock-in. They use a proprietary Microsoft Compound internal structure that forces users to order physical circuit boards directly from eXpressPCB rather than allowing easy export to standard formats.
If you need to extract game assets, the best target formats include ZIP, RAR, or 7Z. For CAD files, users typically want to convert to PDF or Gerber formats, though direct export is intentionally blocked by the parent software to protect their manufacturing monopoly.
Converting .XPK files is notoriously difficult because they lack a unified structural standard. Standard online converters will almost always fail because they cannot parse the dozens of different compression algorithms associated with this extension. If our analysis detects a supported underlying signature like a standard ZIP container or a readable Microsoft Compound file, viewing the internal structure or extracting the raw data may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XPK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert XPK file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Various Game Engines or similar software from the "Game Data Package Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to XPK, try Various Game Engines or another comparable tool in the "Game Data Package Archive" category.
The XPK Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XPK converter.
