About XPIX files

The .xpix file is a specialized configuration package used by X-Pose Picker, a production-grade tool for Autodesk Maya and Blender. These files serve as "control surfaces" for animators, containing visual layouts of character rigs (buttons, sliders, and selection maps) that allow for precise bone manipulation without touching the 3D viewport. Internally, an .xpix file is simply a renamed ZIP archive. It typically contains a layout.json file defining the interface coordinates and logic, alongside a folder of SVG or PNG images used for the buttons.

Users often struggle with these files because they appear as proprietary binary blobs that cannot be opened by standard image viewers or text editors. Without the paid X-Pose Picker add-on installed, the file is useless in its native state. However, because it is a ZIP container, you can manually convert it to a standard folder to inspect or salvage the data. For archiving or documentation, the best approach is to extract the internal images or take screenshots of the active picker in the host software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your XPIX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
