About XPD files
The .XPD file extension serves two distinct, albeit legacy-heavy, purposes in the digital ecosystem. Primarily, it functions as a PlayStation Portable (PSP) Download List, a small Digital Rights Management (DRM) file used by the now-defunct Sony Media Manager to validate and initiate game downloads from the PlayStation Store. Secondly, it is widely utilized in industrial automation as an HMI Project File created by LS Electric (formerly LSIS) within their XP-Builder software. These files contain the logic, screen designs, and communication settings for XGT Panel interfaces.
Handling .XPD files today is fraught with compatibility friction. For gamers, the original PSP downloader software is obsolete, leaving users with unreadable "tickets" rather than the actual game content (which would be ISO or PBP). You cannot simply drag these onto a modern console and expect them to work. For industrial engineers, the challenge is proprietary lock-in; an LSIS project file cannot be opened without the specific version of XP-Builder installed, making it difficult to share schematics with clients who lack the software. Additionally, the generic XML Pipeline variant creates confusion, as it looks like standard code but may fail in strict XML parsers without the correct schema. For legacy PSP files, converting to TXT or XML allows you to view the metadata and download paths in a human-readable format. For HMI projects, converting the report data to PDF is essential for documentation and archiving without requiring the original IDE. If dealing with pipeline documents, validating and converting to standard XML or JSON ensures broader compatibility with modern web tools.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XPD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert XPD file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use XP-Builder or similar software from the "Download Manifest / HMI Project" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to XPD, try XP-Builder or another comparable tool in the "Download Manifest / HMI Project" category.
The XPD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XPD converter.
