Extract text from CAD export logs (XLO)

To convert other file formats to the "Export Translation Log File" file type, you need software like Autodesk 3ds Max or a similar tool.
The .XLO file is primarily a plain-text journal or log file generated during 3D model exports, or a compressed data exchange file used in specific accounting software.
When you export a 3D model to the STEP format using software like Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Inventor, or CATIA, the system automatically generates an .XLO file. This file records the "STEPOUT" translation process, containing UTF-8 formatted text about coordinate mappings, translation warnings, and export success statuses. Alternatively, a subset of .XLO files acts as EDI++ data exchange archives utilized by the Polish business software InsERT GT.
The primary disadvantage of the .XLO format is user confusion. Many users mistakenly believe an .XLO file contains actual 3D geometry. It does not. It is merely a metadata log and is completely useless for recreating a 3D model. On the other hand, the EDI++ variant of the .XLO file poses a different problem: it is a proprietary, GZIP-compressed archive that cannot be natively read outside of specialized accounting systems.
Because of these limitations, converting .XLO files is mostly about text extraction. For CAD logs, the best conversion targets are TXT or LOG to ensure universal readability on any device. For EDI++ files, the internal data must be extracted, typically resulting in XML or plain text data.
This format is notoriously difficult for standard tools to handle. Typical online 3D converters fail instantly because they attempt to process the .XLO file as a complex 3D mesh, crashing when they encounter plain text or a GZIP archive.
