About XGM files

The .XGM file extension is most commonly an Xtreme Game Model file. These are proprietary 3D game models developed by Exient Entertainment. A secondary use is the Oracle XML Gateway map definition, which stores data mapping instructions for integration within Oracle enterprise environments.

The main disadvantage of the .XGM 3D format is its highly restrictive, proprietary nature. These files are compiled specifically for internal game engines and specific gaming hardware. They lack public documentation and are not supported by standard 3D software like Blender or Autodesk Maya. This makes asset extraction, viewing, or game modding extremely frustrating. Standard online converters fail to process them because the geometry and texture mapping data is encoded in a closed binary structure.

Users typically want to convert .XGM 3D models to standard formats like OBJ, FBX, or GLTF to modify them or use them in external projects. Be aware that even if a community tool exists to convert the geometry, complex data like skeleton rigging, animations, or specialized material shaders are usually lost. If the file is an Oracle XML map, users usually want to convert it to standard XML or TXT to view the mapping instructions without requiring enterprise database software.

Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original developer software can properly read or export the data. Our platform will inspect the raw data to determine if it is an easily readable XML text file or a complex binary 3D model. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your XGM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted WAV, MP3, MGN, PIG and BCH files.

The XGM Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XGM converter.
