A .WLK file is a proprietary binary database used by Davis Instruments WeatherLink to store historical weather station data. It records specific meteorological variables like temperature, humidity, wind speed, and barometric pressure. These archives are typically organized by month.
Because the .WLK format is a closed, proprietary database, it cannot be read natively by web browsers, text editors, or standard data analysis software like Microsoft Excel or R. Users are forced to maintain a software installation just to view their own archived data. This makes sharing or long-term preservation highly inconvenient without an export step.
