To convert other file formats to the "Workflow Automation File" file type, you need software like Alteryx or a similar tool.
A .WFL file primarily functions as a workflow automation package, a proprietary software license, or a structured financial data submission container. The most prevalent use cases include financial statement submissions for the Brazilian CVM (Comissão de Valores Mobiliários) regulatory system, and complex process definitions built in Alteryx Designer.
To open a .WFL file natively, users typically need specialized enterprise applications such as Alteryx, Siemens Syngo Workflow Manager, or d.velop d.3.
Users frequently need to convert .WFL files because the format is fragmented and highly proprietary. The major disadvantage of the .WFL format is that it requires expensive enterprise licenses or niche software to access. Files are not supported by standard web browsers, making them useless to external stakeholders who need to review the workflow logic or financial data. Furthermore, different applications use completely different underlying structures for the same .WFL extension, severely complicating bulk data extraction.
The best conversion targets depend entirely on the file's internal structure. For XML-based workflows, converting to XML or TXT is ideal, though you will lose the visual drag-and-drop interface of the original software. If the file is a compressed package, converting or extracting to a standard ZIP folder provides access to the raw internal assets.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because there is no universal standard; a .WFL file could be an XML document, a compressed ZIP archive, or a binary Microsoft Compound file used for nuclear medicine protocols. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the embedded data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
