About WDL files
The .wdl extension typically represents a Worldox Document List, generated by the Worldox Document Management System (DMS). These files are frequently encountered in legal and corporate environments as attachments containing a list of references (pointers) to documents stored within a secure network, rather than the actual documents themselves. The significant disadvantage for recipients outside the network is that these files are useless without access to the original server; they function like broken shortcuts. A secondary, legacy use of the format is the DynaDoc portable document, an obsolete competitor to PDF that users often need to modernize. Users also encounter .wdl files as compiled libraries for PC SOFT WINDEV applications, which are proprietary and locked.
For Worldox files, the best approach is to open them as TXT or convert to CSV to view the file metadata and paths. If you have a DynaDoc file, the ideal conversion target is PDF for archiving or DOCX for editing. For WinDev libraries, no standard conversion exists as they are compiled binary dependencies.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WDL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted NPR, ZIP, $$M, XP3 and DATA files.

The WDL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WDL converter.
