About WBXML files
The .WBXML file format stores WAP Binary XML data. It is a compact, binary representation of standard XML created by the Open Mobile Alliance to reduce bandwidth on early mobile networks (WAP) and in protocols like Exchange ActiveSync. Because it is a compiled binary file, it is completely unreadable in standard text editors or web browsers. It requires specialized developer libraries like libwbxml or specific Python scripts to decode. Users usually need to convert .WBXML to standard XML or TXT to read the configuration, text, or syncing data stored inside. The main disadvantage of .WBXML is its opacity. Without the correct token dictionaries, the binary mapping cannot be translated back to human-readable XML tags. This makes standard online converters fail to process it. If our analysis detects the underlying token maps or embedded text, viewing or extracting the data may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WBXML file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert WBXML file to HTML, HTM, CSS, JS, PHP, ASP, ASPX, JSP, JSPX, PY, RB or PL, you can use libwbxml or similar software from the "Mobile Data Serialization" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert RSS, CSS, CGI, SITEMAP, PL, WEBMANIFEST, JSON, JS, XML, HTML, ICO or HTM files to WBXML, try libwbxml or another comparable tool in the "Mobile Data Serialization" category.
The WBXML Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WBXML converter.
