The .VPX file format is primarily associated with Visual Pinball X, a popular open-source pinball emulator. These files serve as complex containers for virtual pinball table designs. They store everything needed to simulate a specific machine, including 3D geometry, high-resolution textures, sound effects, physics parameters, and the embedded VBScript code that drives the game logic. A secondary, highly common use for .VPX files is as offline virus definition updates or setup packages for Avast Antivirus.
