About VPF files

A .VPF file typically functions as a highly specialized configuration, preset, or system profile. The two most common variants are virtual anatomy presets used by Anatomage Inc hardware and ESXi host profiles managed by VMware vSphere. Anatomage relies on .VPF files formatted internally as SQL databases to save precise 3D rendering configurations for their medical imaging tables. In contrast, VMware uses .VPF files to enforce standardized network, storage, and security settings across multiple server hosts. Depending on the vSphere version, VMware formats these profiles as either plain-text XML or JSON data. Other rare uses include audio effect presets for ViPER4Windows, Flash terminal updates for Vectron Systems POS hardware, and formatted document print streams for SEFAS V.I.P. software. These proprietary formats present major compatibility challenges. You cannot simply open an Anatomage preset on a standard PC because it requires proprietary $50k+ medical hardware. VMware host profiles are designed strictly for import into the vCenter Server interface; attempting to modify them manually without strict syntax compliance can break host deployments. Furthermore, standard online converters fail to process .VPF files because there is no unified standard structure linking these different software ecosystems. Because .VPF files are deeply tied to their parent systems, converting them to presentation formats like PDF or DOCX is functionally useless and rarely supported. However, users frequently need to extract the raw data for auditing or manual review. Depending on the exact sub-type, a .VPF might be convertible to standard XML, JSON, or TXT. This is why this file format is difficult to open or convert. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VPF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted VPK, CR, ECD and CCL files.

The VPF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VPF converter.
