About VLAB files

The .VLAB file extension represents a VisionLab Studio Project File. These files are created by VisionLab Studio, a specialized visual programming environment developed by Mitov Software for computer vision, video processing, and media routing. The file stores a node-based logic graph, recording how different video inputs, processing filters, and outputs are connected.

Users often need to convert or inspect this file because they mistake it for an actual video format. The primary disadvantage of the .VLAB format is that it is strictly a proprietary project file; it does not contain any actual image or video data, only the instructions and absolute file paths to the source media. If you lack a $500+ commercial license or do not have the original media files on your local drive, the file is functionally useless for playback.

Because it is not a media file, you cannot convert .VLAB to MP4, AVI, or MOV. The best target formats for conversion are plain text formats like XML, TXT, or JSON. Converting to these formats allows you to read the internal configurations and recover the file paths of the missing media.

This is a closed, proprietary format. Standard online video converters fail to process it because they look for standard video codecs rather than parsing visual programming graphs. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VLAB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MHT, ACD, SB2 and PZFX files.
