About UL files

Most .ul files are Raw µ-law Audio files (G.711), widely used in US telephony and voicemail systems. The core problem is that these files are headerless - they contain raw sound data without the metadata (sample rate, codec info) that players like Windows Media Player or VLC need to recognize them. As a result, users often encounter "unsupported format" errors or static noise when trying to play them. To listen to these recordings, you must convert them to a container format like WAV or MP3. A minority of these files (approx. 7%) are Windows Updates Downloader lists - simple XML text files used by the legacy WUD tool to catalogue software patches. These can simply be opened with any text editor like Notepad++.

Convert.Guru analyzes your UL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
