Extract text from GPS logs and archives (UC2)

To convert other file formats to the "GNSS Log / Compressed Archive" file type, you need software like u-center 2 or a similar tool.
The .uc2 file extension primarily acts as a binary GPS receiver data log file created by u-center 2 software. These files store raw satellite telemetry, positioning data, and NMEA messages used by engineers to evaluate GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) performance. Alternatively, older .uc2 files are compressed archives created by the legacy DOS-era tool UltraCompressor II (developed by Ad Infinitum Programs), sometimes used for vintage game data or associated with tools like UltraCompare.
Working with .uc2 files is frustrating because the formats are highly specialized or entirely obsolete. The u-blox binary format is proprietary; it cannot be read directly in a standard text editor or spreadsheet, locking your GNSS data inside specialized software. The UltraCompressor II format is a dead standard from the 1990s, meaning modern archivers like WinRAR or 7-Zip usually fail to extract it.
You need to convert these files to make the data usable. For GPS logs, converting .uc2 to CSV, TXT, or standard NMEA allows you to analyze the location data in Excel or Python. For legacy archives, converting to ZIP or 7Z is required for modern access.
