About UAS files

The .uas file extension primarily identifies a PhotoImpact Album file, a proprietary format developed by Ulead Systems (acquired by Corel and now Alludo). These files serve as digital catalogs or "scrapbooks," organizing collections of images with thumbnails, metadata, and layout settings rather than storing a single raster image. The core challenge for users is the "legacy lock-in": Ulead PhotoImpact has been discontinued for over a decade, meaning modern operating systems and standard viewers like Adobe Photoshop or Google Photos cannot render these files. Users are often left with organized memories they cannot visualize. A secondary, less frequent association is with Logitech Presentation software (related to devices like the Logitech Spotlight), where the file may function as a specialized image or asset container. For Ulead albums, the goal is typically Archiving: converting the album layout to PDF for preservation, or extracting the constituent images to standard formats like JPG, PNG, or TIFF to migrate away from the obsolete software ecosystem.

Convert.Guru analyzes your UAS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted UASSET, PE3, PP5 and AB3 files.

The UAS Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our UAS converter.
