About TXN files
The .txn file format is a highly fragmented extension used for entirely different purposes depending on the software that created it. Today, it is primarily used to store Partially Signed Bitcoin Transactions (PSBT) or raw transaction data for cryptocurrency wallets like Electrum and hardware devices like Trezor. Historically, the .txn extension was used by obsolete platforms like Yahoo! Messenger and MySpaceIM to save user chat logs, or by financial institutions like Macquarie Bank to export account transactions. The main disadvantage of .txn files is this severe lack of standardization. A modern crypto .txn file requires specific cryptographic software to execute and is useless on its own. Older chat logs or bank exports are often locked in proprietary, undocumented text formats that look messy in standard text editors. To make the data readable, you should convert .txn to JSON or plain TXT for crypto payloads, or to CSV for financial logs so they can be opened in Microsoft Excel. However, standard online converters fail to process .txn files because they cannot guess which of the many variants your file belongs to. Our system analyzes the internal bytes to determine the file's true origin. If our analysis detects a supported underlying JSON or embedded text format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TXN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TXN file to TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, TEX, LATEX, MD, MARKDOWN, LOG or NFO, you can use Electrum or similar software from the "Bitcoin Transaction Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert PDF, DOC, ASC, TODO, NFO, MEMO, README, DOCX, JPG, TXT, NOTE or RTF files to TXN, try Electrum or another comparable tool in the "Bitcoin Transaction Data Storage" category.
The TXN Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TXN converter.
