Convert TTM to another file type
To convert TTM 3D models to another format, you need Trimble or other 3D software.
Convert a file to TTM
To convert other file formats to the "Surface & Simulation Model" file type, you need software like Trimble or a similar tool.
About TTM files
The .ttm file format primarily stores proprietary 3D data. In most cases, it functions as a Triangulated Surface Model (TNL TIN DTM) used by Trimble Inc. for civil engineering, surveying, and heavy construction. In other instances, it acts as a Robot Simulation Model used by CoppeliaSim (formerly V-REP) to store robotic kinematics, physics, and scripting data. A tiny fraction of these files belong to the retro game Tower Toppler as mission files.
Users frequently need to convert .ttm files because they are highly proprietary and siloed. A Trimble surface model cannot be opened natively in generic CAD software like AutoCAD or MicroStation without specialized plugins or intermediate steps. Similarly, CoppeliaSim models require the exact simulation engine to read the associated physics and scripting parameters. This creates severe bottlenecks when sharing topographic surveys or robotic models with clients who lack these specific, often expensive, software licenses.
For Trimble survey files, the best conversion targets are DXF, DWG, or .LandXML to retain structural geometry and terrain data. For CoppeliaSim models, exporting the static mesh to OBJ, STL, or .URDF is recommended, though custom physics and behavioral script data will inevitably be lost.
Because .ttm is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters almost always fail to process it. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the complex 3D data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TTM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TTM file to XML, DWG, DXF, CSV, JSON, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF or DAT, you can use Trimble or similar software from the "3D Surface & Simulation Model" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to TTM, try Trimble or another comparable tool in the "3D Surface & Simulation Model" category.
The TTM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TTM converter.
