About TK3 files

The .TK3 file format is a proprietary multimedia eBook container developed in the late 1990s and early 2000s by Night Kitchen, Inc. Originally designed to bundle text, images, audio, and video into a single interactive document, these files were primarily created using TK3 Author and viewed through TK3 Reader. They were frequently used for digital catalogs, reference guides, and interactive educational projects.

Today, the .TK3 format is essentially abandonware. The official software is obsolete, originally built for Windows 95/98/XP and classic Mac OS environments. This makes it nearly impossible to open these files natively on modern operating systems like Windows 11 or macOS Sonoma without using virtualization. Because the format is closed and proprietary, standard modern eBook readers and managers like Calibre or Amazon Kindle do not support it. This creates a massive problem for users trying to access old digital books or archived reference guides locked inside a .TK3 container.

To rescue your content, converting .TK3 to a universally supported format like EPUB, PDF, or MOBI is the best path forward. However, because standard conversion tools fail to parse Night Kitchen's proprietary encoding, you will likely lose original multimedia interactivity, such as embedded video or "sticky" notes. Our engine can inspect the file's internal hex structure. If our analysis detects unencrypted text or recognizable embedded media streams, viewing or extracting the raw data may still be possible, allowing you to salvage your legacy information.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TK3 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted UBK, TR3, XEB and TK2 files.
