About TGI files
A .tgi file is primarily a Game Data Definition file used by real-time strategy (RTS) games based on the Infinite Game Engine, most notably Axis & Allies (2004) and Kohan II: Kings of War. These files function as scripts that define essential gameplay mechanics, including unit statistics, tech trees, and AI behaviors.
For gamers and modders, the main challenge is that .tgi files appear as unrecognized system files, preventing easy access. In reality, they are often disguised plain text or XML containers. Users typically need to convert or rename them to TXT to tweak game balance or create mods using editors like Notepad++.
In a completely different context (engineering), a .tgi file may be a TowGeom Input File generated by Degi Trans software for transmission tower design. These are specialized CAD data files used to calculate wind loads and geometry, often exporting data to PLS-TOWER. For this type, conversion requires the proprietary TowGeom suite.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TGI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TGI file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use Notepad++ or similar software from the "Game Data Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to TGI, try Notepad++ or another comparable tool in the "Game Data Configuration" category.
The TGI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TGI converter.
