Convert TCK to another file type
To convert TCK track files to another format, you need MRtrix3 or other Data software.
Convert a file to TCK
To convert other file formats to the "Neuroimaging Data" file type, you need software like MRtrix3 or a similar tool.
About TCK files
A .TCK file primarily serves as a Brain fiber tractography data file used by the MRtrix3 software suite. These files store 3D coordinates of neuronal streamlines generated during MRI diffusion tensor imaging. Alternatively, the .TCK extension is used for Racing game track data files in classic games like Toca Race Driver by Codemasters, and as cryptographic key carrier files for Signal-COM software.
To natively open the medical imaging variant, you need specialized neuroimaging tools like MRtrix3 or TrackVis. For the gaming variant, the original game engine is required.
The primary disadvantage of the .TCK format is its highly specialized, often proprietary binary structure. Medical .TCK files routinely exceed several gigabytes in size because they store millions of streamline vertices. Because it is not a standard format, web browsers, standard 3D viewers, and typical data science tools cannot read it. You need to convert these files to perform downstream statistical analysis or to visualize the tracts in third-party software.
The best conversion targets for MRtrix3 .TCK files are CSV or TXT for raw coordinate extraction, or VTK for broader 3D visualization. Converting to these formats makes the data accessible, though standard text formats will drastically increase the file size.
Because these files use closed, software-specific structures, standard online converters usually fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show embedded text or internal content. Just drag and drop your .TCK file to see what it is, and convert it if our analysis detects a supported underlying format.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TCK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TCK file to TRK, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT or DB, you can use MRtrix3 or similar software from the "Brain fiber tractography data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to TCK, try MRtrix3 or another comparable tool in the "Brain fiber tractography data" category.
The TCK Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TCK converter.
