About TBT files

A .TBT file is most commonly a music tablature created by TabIt, a legacy Windows-based notation program popular for transcribing guitar and bass music. Unlike universal audio files, .TBT files contain proprietary sequencing data, fingerings, and MIDI instructions that modern media players cannot open. This creates a significant "digital lock-in" problem for musicians: the files are lightweight (often under 50KB) but inaccessible on macOS, Android, or iOS without the original, dated software. Users typically need to convert these files to MIDI (MID) to import them into modern Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) like Logic Pro or notation software like Guitar Pro. For archiving or printing, converting to PDF is the standard solution.

A secondary but important use of the extension is for Toon Boom Harmony animation templates. These files store reusable character rigs, scenes, and palettes. In this context, users often seek to convert or render the template into standard video formats like MP4 or MOV for sharing, though this usually requires the native Toon Boom Harmony software to perform the render.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TBT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TSD, CXL and BAI files.
