The .TBT file extension primarily represents a Tabit Music Tablature file created by Tabit, a Windows-based guitar and bass notation editor. A secondary use is the Toon Boom Template file utilized by Toon Boom Harmony to store pre-configured animation assets, rigs, and timelines. Other niche applications include TacticalPad soccer tactics boards and Turing's Breadboard assembly code. The primary disadvantage of a .TBT file is its closed, proprietary architecture. These files require a paid or legacy desktop application to open. The .TBT format cannot be opened natively by web browsers, standard audio players, or universal document viewers. Users generally want to convert music tablature to PDF for universal sheet music access, MIDI for audio playback, or MusicXML for cross-platform editing. For animation templates, users seek exports to MP4 video or PNG image sequences.
