.TAH files are primarily used as game archives or character data files for the Japanese 3D game 3D Custom Girl, developed by Tech Arts 3D. A secondary, less common use is as a WinAGI Compound File. This relies on the Microsoft Compound format (OLE) to store acoustic emission test data or adventure game interpreter data for the WinAGI software.
The main disadvantage of the .TAH format is its highly proprietary and closed nature. These files are tightly coupled to niche or obsolete software. You cannot open them natively with web browsers, standard text editors, or mainstream 3D modeling programs like Blender. Because they lack official public documentation, attempting to extract 3D assets or raw data manually is extremely frustrating for users.

Extracting internal assets to standard formats like OBJ for 3D meshes or PNG for textures is the standard workflow.
