About TAG files

A .tag file is most commonly a temporary meeting recording data file generated by Zoom. However, because it is a generic extension, it is also widely used as a cache directory marker, InstallShield software metadata, or an NFC MIFARE data dump.

The primary disadvantage of the .tag format is its extreme fragmentation. Because dozens of unrelated applications use this extension, your operating system has no idea how to open it natively. A Zoom .tag file is practically useless on its own - it is just a temporary tracking file that requires companion audio and video files to be processed into a playable format. Text-based or hexadecimal .tag files (like NFC dumps or cache markers) often look like unreadable gibberish if opened in a standard notepad.

To make this data usable, you must convert it. For Zoom files, the goal is combining them with their temporary counterparts to create an MP4 video or M4A audio file. For raw metadata or NFC dumps, converting the file to TXT or CSV allows you to read, search, and analyze the contents.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TAG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ZOOM, CLI, TGA, MP4, ZMDOWNLOAD, ZVR and ZENC files.
