Convert SQ to another file type

To convert SQ databases to another format, you need DB Browser for SQLite or other Database software.

Convert a file to SQ

To convert other file formats to the "Relational Database File" file type, you need software like DB Browser for SQLite or a similar tool.

About SQ files

The .SQ file extension primarily serves two highly distinct functions. First, it is widely used as an SQLite version 3 database file. Second, it functions as a proprietary Volleyball team roster file used by sports scouting software like Data Volley and TBT-Team. Less commonly, it stores PVR recording metadata for Topfield devices, speech sequences for Adventure Game Studio, or game music sequence data for Square Enix games. You need to convert .SQ files because their native formats are heavily restrictive. An SQLite database is a compiled binary file that requires specialized querying tools, while volleyball roster files require expensive monthly subscriptions to dedicated scouting software. Opening these files without the original software often results in unreadable gibberish. Standard online converters fail to process them because the internal structures vary drastically depending on the origin. For database files, the best conversion targets are CSV for spreadsheet compatibility or SQL for database migration. Note that converting a relational database to a flat CSV file will strip away relationships, indexes, and schemas. For volleyball rosters, converting to TXT or CSV is ideal for sharing player statistics with coaches who do not use specialized software. Because the .SQ extension is shared among multiple, closed formats, it is notoriously difficult to open or convert correctly. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SQ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SQQ, SQ_BASE, SQL, INDEX, SQLITE, RSK, M2 and SQM files.

The SQ Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SQ converter.
