About RSK files

A .RSK file typically functions as an Instrument data log file generated by RBR Ruskin software. Under the hood, these are standard SQLite database files storing massive datasets from oceanographic and environmental sensors. Alternatively, .RSK extensions are widely used for Project Risk Analysis files by Oracle Primavera Risk Analysis and @RISK by Palisade Corporation. Minor uses include Duck Game custom hats and Rambach stream index files. The main disadvantage of .RSK files is their software dependency. While the Ruskin variant is technically an open SQLite format, the data schemas are highly specific. The Primavera and @RISK variants use proprietary, closed formats (often Microsoft Compound binary structures) that are incredibly difficult to parse outside their native environments. They require expensive, bulky enterprise software to open and are completely unsupported by web browsers or standard office suites. Standard online converters almost always fail to process them because they lack the specific parsing logic for proprietary risk models.
